Syon Park Wedding 17th October

22nd October 2009
It was an absolutely amazing day. The wedding of Sam and Sarah at Syon House in Syon Park (http://www.syonpark.co.uk/) was like walking into a fairy tale. The weather was crisp and cold but thankfully dry. Syon House is an amazing venue, as the traditional home of the Duke of Northumberland it is filled with elegent furniture and totally steeped in culture and period features.

The ceremony began as 3:15 and I was privileged to be there with Camilla (my assistant for the day) to capture the arrival of the guests beforehand. We were able to dash around the back to meet the bride as she arrived with her parents and bridesmaids. The ceremony was held in the great hall where the black and white tiles complemented the bride’s black and white dress. The registry was signed in the privacy of the dining room where drinks and canapés were later served. During the signing of the registry music was provided by the string quartet ‘Filos’ with a guest appearance from Kris who sang his own rendition of ‘Fields of Gold.’

Photographing the bride and groom in the long gallery was a beautiful experience. I hope that the photos do the location justice. It was too cold to do the formal photographs in the courtyard so we cleared the hall of the chairs and made a feature of the statue and marble stairs at the front of the room.

This was all followed by a reception in the conservatory, a gorgeous glasshouse which is lit up magically at night. Breaking with tradition a ‘Cake of Cheese’ was the centerpiece (trust me you must see it to believe it – a great alternative for the non-cake eaters!) and the bride and groom busted a move on the dance floor after a traditional curry feast.
From a photographers point of view the venue could not have been better presented. It was just a photogenic location and Sam and Sarah are a beautiful couple who bought it to life. It was an honor to photograph their wedding.
